The overhead bins are already 100% full when the flight is full on their MD-80's, in my recent experience. They literally couldn't put anything more in the cabin except at the passengers' feet, which could become more common.

I may walk to Texas next time, it will be a nicer way to travel. More reliable, too.

Everyone will try squeezing on with more carry-ons than will fit.

Worse, they will try with ones that don't fit. I can't believe the bags people try to cram into those overheads. Big fat things.
