Even the best writers need editors. From my own limited writing experience, I know that you get so close to what you've written that you can't see its faults.

Your story had no faults. I was just being a smart ass.

The word "and" does lend a bit of breathlessness to the line, which is certainly appropriate for the story.

'and' 'and' helps make up the 50 words, 'and' an 'and' that helps is an 'and' of which to be proud ;)
