i think back to when McGovern was crushed in 1972(i campaigned actively for McGovern), his crime:he was too nice a man that was targetted with as down and dirty smear and nasty tricks campaign that i ever noted in my lifetime. i lost faith in the american public that year. i feel the american public will be tested again as The War Party--both neo-liberal and neo-con will mount as dirty a campaign in my lifetime against Obama. i bet there will be a whisper campaign organized nationwide with people saying "He's Black you know,mind you i am not a racist, but he is black you know" Or, whisperers saying "His middle name is Hussein, that tells you something, doesn't it??" McCain is going to be waving the flag so much his arms might drop off. i despise McCain, but for reasons i have expounded over and over and i am boycotting the election, except that i might write in the name Daffy Duck or the name of the long deceased Mel Blanc, a hero of mine:) But if Obama wins, then his mettle will be tested to the extreme. The War Party has deep roots within the Democratic Party itself. Does Obama have the inner substance to put them out to pasture? We will only know if he is elected. Max p.s. If it were to become apparent Obama will win do NOT be surprised if Bush attacks Iran before November, imho
