Your post referred to "a garbling of the Bible and History". That would offend a lot of Black churches.

"religion" is an overworked word, TideGlider.

The Bible says that true and undefiled religion is to look after widows and orphans and to keep oneself unpolluted by the world.

Religion is not being a mormon or a baptist or a catholic or a muslim, or sitting in the same pew every Sunday, or sending in that check to Benny Hinn, or calling oneself a "reverend" or Father or Doctor of (name your philosophy).

There is only one church and the Head of that church is the Jesus the Christ. the believers in his Word and His salvation offered by grace are the body of Christ. Christianos originally applied to the slaves belonging to a great household. It came to denote the adherents of an individual or party. A Christian is an adherent of Christ; one committed to Christ; a follower of Christ.

These followers of Christ will spend eternity with the Creator God and Father of all mankind. While one can certainly respect other men and women, to respect any other "religion" or cult or belief would lead one to believe that the believer did not care about saving other souls, as is part of the Christian's calling.

In the political arena this is all distortion for political favor. Take for example...have you noticed all the Christian prayers coming out of CONGRESS for Kennedy the last day or two....yet the Americans cannot pray for even the safety of players in a high school sports game over an intercom.
