bench experience is not a necessary disqualifier Out of curiosity I checked and every one of the sitting justices served on the Appeals courts. But you are correct about it not being required. In fact, I couldn't find ANY requirements. Heck, I can be one. It's just up to President and Congress. Wouldn't nominating Hillary cause a lot of grief for Obama- almost a slap to the conservatives? And also, it would sure look like some kind of payoff. Just not a good way to start.
