Glad you find the summary useful Buck Builder.
I've never tried to scalping around the difference between the expected number and the announced number. I'm not very good at short term trades. Long term trends I can spot, which way the market will lurch next short term I'm no good at. I do find the the expectation game useful for explaining the movements in my stocks that day and it keeps me from getting too excited by transitory movements not connected to longer term fundamentals.
The difference between expectations and the announced number will
drive the market for a short time until the market fixates on the next headline.

I did try to trade around tropical weather developments for two years without much success. The market always seemed to move in the exact opposite way that I thought logic should dictate. You've probably noticed a lack of tropical weather reports from me this year. I won't get too excited by tropical weather developments this year until I see my house inside the NHC's 5 day warning cone.

Happy scalping,

Dennis
