"The collateral damage of suffering US consumers can be mitigated through government checks and other subsidies..."

You're joking right? At $100+ to fill-up a $800 "stimulus" check will last 8 weeks. What are the consumers going to do the rest of the 52 weeks in the year??? Demand the gov. send them $100 a week so they can get to work....

They have no REAL intention of helping suffering Americans. Or they would NOT have created the current situation in the first place.....

Remember, just before the accelerated destruction of the consumer, they passed the "NEW and Improved" bankrupcy laws that make it harder for consumers but easier for companies to declare bankrupt.... Why would they do that if they were really on the side of the people??? And how about them 30%+ interest rates on credit cards, only a few barely audible squeaks coming from our "leaders".... (And on, and on, and on, etc., etc., etc.....)
