Tailgating remedy? I don't condone this, but know a crazy mofo from high school (20 years ago) who used to carry a supply of golf balls in his console to throw out his window at tailgaters when they would inevitably pass. He also kept a tire iron at the ready under his seat for the ensuing fight when the tailgater would force him off the road. I bet the guy eventually wound up staring down the barrel of a gun (or worse).

sounds like you are fighting aggression with aggression. Let's hope it does not up up with some guy actually hitting you and then getting into a fistfight (or worse) on the roadside. This happens a lot in LA.

And if I hadn't witnessed this myself, I would not have believed it. About 25 years ago on an LA freeway, in stop and go traffic, I see in my rearview mirror a guy driving a pickup truck, leaning out the window with a tire iron, weaving in his lane, trying to hit the top of another car in the next lane.

This goes on a while, they are all over the side margin of the freeway, and finally the pickup manages to get in front of the car, slams on the brakes, the guy jumps out of the truck, runs back to the guy's car, and beats on his driver's door with the tire iron. The guy in the car had the good sense not to get out of the car, or he'd likely have been the target instead. Then the guy in the pickup got back in his truck and drove away. I've never seen anything like it.

Some people are crazy. Trying to "teach them a lesson" can backfire badly.
