"Both John and I" is best, no doubt.

Better. And unobtrusive. Not likely to raise any hair on my neck. But "John and I each" is "best."

I figured you were just exercised when you wrote it. I would not have mentioned it had we not just had that discussion on English usage.

BTW, is that Texan, or what?
