We don't let people off the hook for killing one person, let alone more than three thousand. And we haven't let bin Laden off the hook. He's hardly the only long term wanted fugitive in the world. He's more distinctive looking than most and more "wanted", but he also has a lot more supporters and has places he can go to where he is really difficult to find. At this point, I wouldn't even mind the huge political boost it would give Bush if he actually captured the man. What would you have us do? Invade Pakistan in force for at most a moderate chance of catching him?
