A bunch of the events from 2 millenium ago were tied to the struggle between the Hellenistic culture and the Roman culture. The Hellenistic movement was the opposite political party from that of the Cesears and their dynasty. Christianity was one expression of this struggle as was Byzantine when it was formed as a Christain nation. (This is why they changed their alphabet to use Greek letters instead of Latin, among many other symbolic ties to world of Alexander).

Never realized the Greek influence on the Roman empire esp. when it became the Byzantine Empire. Thanks.
