What I said was silly was your statement that Bush had prevented bin Laden from setting up camp in Iraq where he could do real damage.

It was silly because there is hardly any more reason to think bin Laden would have set up camp in Iraq while Hussein was in power than to think he would have chosen the White House lawn as his base of operations.

Bin Laden had called for the ouster of "infidel leaders" of countries like Iraq, Saudi Arabia, etc. In that part of the world, calling someone an infidel isn't likely to get you invited to a sleepover.
