We do need a strong military because we don't live in a safe world w/o danger. We enjoy what we have - and I mean freedoms in addition to material things - because we fought for them in the past and presently have the power to keep and preserve them. It is true that "We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm. Dude, we spend as much on our military as the rest of the world spends on its military. We are in the throes of extreme paranoia and not a need for a strong military. If you guys would seek psychological help, we would not be in this mess.
