Russia's monthly oil output shrinks

RBC, 23.05.2008, Moscow 10:53:14.Russia's oil and gas condensate production inched down 0.7 percent to 39.7m tonnes in April 2008 compared to the same month a year earlier, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported today. Oil output shrank 3.6 percent in April compared to March.

As reported earlier, oil and gas condensate production decreased 0.3 percent in January-April 2008 against the first four months of 2007, barely topping 161m tonnes. Meanwhile, oil and gas condensate output went up 2.1 percent to 490.83m tonnes in 2007 compared to 2006, according to the former Industry and Energy Ministry's data. The ministry forecast a 1.8-percent rise in oil production to 500m tonnes in 2008.
