<<t's really hard for a dog to adjust to a normal life after being abused.>>

The secrete is they have to become part of the family and know good comes from you and no harm. We took in an abused Lab that growled even when being fed. I put his food in the kennel and sat down with my back to him. Took about two minutes and he was my good friend. I walked Duke several times a day after that and we were buddies. People who brought him here found a good owner but wanted to walk him first. Told them not to let him off the leash by the interstate but they did. He went under the fence and couldn't get back. I buried him.
