An argument so brilliant, they deserve to pat themselves on the back for it.

Nobody evaluated the brilliance of it; they're just interested in the political expediency.

Bush is everyone's ogre and favorite whipping boy. He and Cheney.

So, it is all Bush's fault. That's why I don't believe anyone can evaluate his performance until years after he leaves office -- by then, all the BS settles out and the facts start to ooze into the mix.

Ultimately, in spite of the mistakes in the prosecution of the war, I think history remembers Bush (and Cheney) very positively. They were the first to recognize that we at war against radical Islam rather than just considering terrorism to be a crime (which was Clinton's view).
