David, > What does that mean?

AMD connects processors and chipsets together using a technology called HyperTransport, while Intel connects processors and chipsets together using an older technology called FSB.

HyperTransport is what I mean when I say "links-based interconnect," because it consists of a network of high-speed point-to-point connections. In comparison, FSB uses lower-speed interfaces which are shared between multiple drivers.

Intel is finally dumping FSB in favor of something called QuickPath, which is also "links-based." AMD advocates claim that Intel is copying HyperTransport, but from my point-of-view, QuickPath represents a leapfrog. It's that much better.
