That kind of anger usually springs from jealousy or rejection- so either someone in the beat movement rejected Mr. Weiner (without, perhaps, even realizing that had been done), or Mr. Weiner was very jealous of these iconic figures, longed to become one of them, realized he never would, and thus he did what many people do who can't be part of the "in" crowd- he decided to turn on then "in" crowd- and fixate on hating them, when being a part of them wasn't an option for him. You have to feel sorry for someone that deeply damaged and angry.

ML -

Sounds like his gay lover rejected him, and it was all downhill from there.

I would pity him, except that it's probably very gratifying to be able to bloviate and fulminate for hours at a time and get paid for it.

I'd like to have that job. I have a great voice, people tell me, and a face that was just made for radio.

"whenever he wasn't working on stand-up comedy routines"

I've heard his show a couple of times and thought it was pretty funny cause he's so over the top. Kind of like Don Rickles.
