As I recall, we have a carrier patrolling the Gulf, plus lots of other ships. There to keep the straights open and prevent the laying of mines as Iran did last time.

Iran has kidnapped British sailors in the Gulf, and has tried but failed to do the same to Americans. By their actions, they want to start something.

Think they'll try again with their new buddy Obama?

If you were them, wouldn't you? He's promising the reward of a president summit with no preconditions! In effect, he has promised them a big reward for bad behavior! This is a no-brainer, from their point of view. After all, we know that Obama would never be so undiplomatic as to reply to force with force.
