Cracking down on employers isn't going to happen because the business base of the Republican party doesn't want it and most of the Democrats don't want it either. The odds that you get a president who morphs into Lou Dobbs and goes on the rampage against illegals is just about zero.

That's what makes all these discussions about it moot. We may as well speculate about controlling the weather, or ridding society of drug use and prostitution.

Nice way to dodge the critical issue that needs to be resolved.

You say you are liberal. I think you want universal health care. I imagine you might like to see legal citizens competing for work on equal grounds with legal immigrants and not illegal.

But you would prefer to have cheap produce picked by exploited workers because it might be a difficult transition.

Obama (your candidate) is proposing Change. Are you not a proponent of change, or only if it does not cost more at the supermarket.

Obama's carbon tax is going to be a huge driver of change.

Universal health care is going to be a huge change.

You sound more like a Republican business owner wondering how margins are going to stay up if they have to hire legal workers.
