If only that were true. If it were true, we wouldn't have gotten ourselves in to the Iraq war. But we can all wish it were true.

"while the right wing hyperbole gets generally ignored."

The hyperbole on Iraq and terrorism has been ongoing for years, faithfully repeated by the media and still the foundation for most of our current policies.

When either the right or the left starts whining about how reasonable they always are and how awful the other side is, I tune out.

They are such perfect mirrors of one another, it's uncanny. And the media gets blamed from all sides, because each partisan side cherrypicks what it wants to see to reinforce its prejudices.

No one can be bothered to do (or even look up) the comprehensive studies of thousands of media items that would be the minimum necessary to test these assertions.

So they just hang out there in partisan talk land as assertions.
