Un-American is an epithet favored by David Frum, disappointing to see Brooks use it. I had read right over that. I focused on the "unpopular" and missed the un-American. Now that you mention it, I have to wonder why he added that. If he means "un-American" in the context of "unpopular," which is surely is, then it's redundant. If he meant some other context, what would that be? These internecine feuds need to be hashed out before anything moves forward. Personally, I'm looking forward to a divorce. If not a divorce, then a spectacular feud.
