"And that would have worked?"

Sure. He cheats because he thinks he can get away with it. By catching him and holding his feet to the fire, shows him that he can't.

That is funny. And how do we hold his feet to the fire? Arguably only China can do that.

It has worked in the past.

Until Bush stopped doing that.

When did the US successfully hold NK's feet to the fire?

"Yes, the fact they're paying a heavy price to develop enriched uranium means its important to them."

Given that their announced reasons make sense, it doesn't have to be nuclear weapons. Iran has virtually no refining capacity. So they have critical energy needs.

Their announced reason doesn't make sense. Russia is building Iran a nuclear power plant and supplying the fuel for it, which is to be controlled and returned to Russia eventually.

Bush has himself offered nuclear fuel to Iran for peaceful power generation. If it will stop its own nuclear enrichment activities. Iran thus has no civilian need to enrich uranium.
