Dan, that's a very good point about not listening to generals about "why to take a hill." But I'll have to disagree with you on listening to generals on "how to take a hill." You'd be better served listening to NCOs, Platoon leaders or Company commanders. I say that because most of our generals are administrators, and many of them are not very good administrators. Just look at the long list of brown-nosed generals that unflinchingly sent their men into Iraq to pursue inept strategies simply because they didn't "get it" or because standing up for their men and doing what was right for their country would have doomed their chances for promotion.
