Oh, no!!!!! Thank goodness he was protected! Motorcycle riding is SO dangerous,I don't care how much everyone loves it. It is not worth it!

Smithee, get well soon - we will miss you!

Oh my, that really sounds like some painful injuries.

Take good care while you heal, we'll miss you. While you are in recovery, rather than type, you might think about designing a kevlar (sp) vest for riders to wear. Don't know how heavy that material is, but maybe it could be lightened enough to work and prevent injuries of the nature you received. Could make you rich, if there is no such thing on the market for riders. <gg>

I know our police officers wear bullet proof vests made of that material all year round when on duty and I believe that includes motorcycle patrols also which is also body protection for them if involved in accidents. They claim those have saved many of their officer's lives.

<<He did however suffer 5 broken ribs and a broken clavicle and is very, very sore as you can imagine.>>

I've had broken ribs and don't have to imagine.

omigoodness, oral....

if you speak to smithee, give him a big hug for me, (oh wait, that would be a big ouchy)...i know how he loves his cycle, but this is the very thing that cause such consternation in riding them for me...

:(

give him my very best and a big smooch, tell him i look forward to hearing from him soon no matter how hard it is to type and promise him i will write NOTHING to make him laugh ....that would hurt too <ng>

don't ever let anyone tell you a wheat field is soft.

on the plus side -

no ditch

it was wheat, not basalt or trees

Tell you what, God was looking over my shoulder.

Oh man, he's so very lucky. Full leathers, a helmet and God looking out for him!

Will light a candle and say a prayer for a speedy recovery.
