If it's not practicable to stop them, then don't we need a different approach?

It's like immigration and drugs. Just assume we can apply infinite force (from our infinite budget) if we are tough enough and brave enough and daring enough and we can fix the whole world that way.

That saves trying to come up with those messy compromises due to resource and policy constraints in the real world.

If different approaches do not work, how long do you give them? Until they explode a bomb?

If there are really, truly only 2 possibilities, flatten them or wait until they actually have nuclear weapons, then my vote is to flatten them. I prefer that to nuclear blackmail, and the prospects that Iraq would either use the bomb on the U.S. or that terrorists would get it who would do so. Unfortunately, as I mentioned to Cogito not long ago, I fear that the U.S. does not have the moral will nor political courage to do so.

I understand that this issue has no appealing solutions. I also realize that my view is very unpopular with many. Feel free to disagree and have the last word if you like. For now at least, I won't be posting more on this particular topic.
