I personally would vote for any presidential candidate who did what JFK did with the space program---declare a goal to bring this country to total energy independence in a decade.

I agree. I thought that was one of a couple of good points the General made. Unfortunately they got lost in the rest of it.

The other point was the shock to our economy if there is a sudden fall-off in the supply of oil for any reason or even just an additional up segment in the blow-off parabolic spike in crude prices.

I'd rather we had something to brag about on the energy front than something like a Mars landing. I suppose it has more to do with the absence of a lobby opposing the Space program.

And all the while there is increased noise about attacking Iran. Jimmy Carter put a bit of dew on that idea when he said that Israel had 150 Nukes. He is a strange man, but perhaps fair.
