Qualcomm - QCOM-NNM Outperform - Price 47.35 on May 19 by First Global Robust growth in 3G wireless-handset markets continues...New emerging markets like India offer good growth opportunities...[amid affordable] new-product launches. Major agreements for Firethorn financial-mobility solutions, and MediaFLO USA [should] further strengthen long-term growth prospects...the legal conflicts appear to be heading toward resolution ....EPS for 2007 is $2.01; '08E is 2.11 and '09E is 2.36. Estimated P/E for '08, '09: 19.3 times, 17.3 times. Market cap: $75.92 billion. All of these upgrades are bullshxxt! The story has not changed for a few years now and why did the story all of sudden change in the past couple of weeks? Why all the upgrades in the past couple of weeks? I think there is some sort of news that they know about but they are unable to share it. What do you all think?

Wall Street Upgrades: This is the first quarter in a few years where Tech has come in with numbers stronger than all other sectors. Additionally, in the face of a weaker economy investors naturally gravitate toward GROWTH over VALUE - the theory being they look for growth despite what the economy is doing (Health Care, Tech etc.) QCOM has been able to increase numbers in the teeth of a slowing economy. That makes it VERY attractive. Additionally, these law suites finally have a date for decisions close enough for the "low-I.Q.-Cramer-short-term-view-Hedge-fund-crowd" to consider looking at the stock.
