"They "almost never kill Americans" at our embassies"

Correct.

"and you conclude that isn't their goal."

Well, I don't assume they are stupid. If their goal is to kill Americans, especially diplomats, they know they can do it outside of the embassies and consulates.

They have done that. More than once.

You want to assume they are stupid. That is a very dangerous way to go.

"They don't really have it in for Americans."

Ah yes. Now is the time to trot out the little straw guys.

"They're just not very dangerous according to liberals."

Yup. There goes another one. Aren't the straw guys cute?

"Has it occurred to you that we try to make it hard to kill Americans?"

Ah. The Master of the Obvious has struck!

I bet you think you are really clever here...

Of course it has occurred to me. In fact, I assume it. I also assume that the terrorists have found this out. I mean, the bombings in Africa bagged hundreds, but no Americans. And those were pretty powerful attempts.

And, despite those attempts, experts feel that the main reason for those bombings was to drag the US into a quagmire in Afghanistan.
