You mean like Bush promising us he was not going to do any "nation building"?

Check out this months Scientific American; Nancy Pelosi and Newt Gingrich sitting on a couch together like a pair of love birds in front of the White House. The two full page advertisement on the inside cover urging us to all come together to deal with "global climate change".

I'd love to see the November election focus on policy issues. But experience shows that most voters will work from impressions they pick up that "define" the two candidates; maybe they don't read enough, maybe they don't care, whatever. But it's a proven fact that the campaign consultants all work to achieve - definition is victory if you do it right.

Bush defined himself as the guy you'd want to have a beer with, who wasn't going to upset the apple cart too much.

Now no one outside his base wants anything to do with him, and the apples are all over the road.
