Hmmm, missed opportunity. And what changed all that? Was it the lowering of corporate taxes that brought jobs and overseas investments to the Republic of Ireland in the 90’s, the celtic tiger? The north realized it was missing out on the lifting of society’s boats going on in the south. There’s probably a few lessons there that can be applied to the middle east. There’s certainly no lack of money in the middle east. People with more to lose are less likely to act like people with nothing to lose.
