Texans seem to have the gift of gab. When i think bush, i go back to LBJ. You never could tell the sincerity from the expediency there either. Bush will one day write a memoir in which he will admit that he knew the war was lost in 05 but did nothing about it because he didnt want to be the first american president to lose a war to terrorists or islamic extremists. And rummy too and he will cry like MacNamara.
For me the stupidity, insincerity, arrogance of power, and separation from reality that this admin is all about became painfully evident during Katrina. We might has well had the Burmese Junta in power here. There is a pic on page 1 of the NYTimes today of a chinese communist local official on his knees before the parents of the dead earthquake kids begging forgiveness. I wouldnt suggest the president do that but there are folks in the republican party who should for foisting this on us in 2000. Folks always say what if gore was president but i always say what if it was McCain. I cant imagine bin laden being alive, nor can i imagine us getting into a vietnam like quagmire in iraq. John Fowler, a noted thread liberal with brains, said in an earlier post today that that pretty much would have been his policy as well.
