Iraq also has the unique position of being dead center within 2/3 of the worlds oil. Dont try to compare the strategic value of a stable Iraq with Somalia or Pakistan, you know better. It has the history of a Saddam and oil revenues. The only thing we do now is learn from the past. Going forward ignoring the risk an unstable Iraq poses is not the same thing as some terrorists hiding in caves in very defensible areas of Pakistan. Last I checked Pakistan has nukes, so this might be a small deterrent to chasing AQ there as well.
