The International Organization of Securities Commissions, the forum for more than 100 regulators, said ratings firms will be banned from recommending how products are structured to help prevent conflicts of interest, and called for independent reviews of the way rankings are assigned.

About friggin' time the rating agencies received their share of the blame for the subprime mess..

Those CDO's would not have been sold in the manner they were without the "blessing" of the rating agencies.

Still surprised Moodys isn't facing serious lawsuits.

This is kind of humorous, considering the entire rating scheme is based on Conflict of Interest. How do these governing and oversight bodies not see these things before they happen..come ON.
