George W. Bush was more than qualified back in 2000

Not at all.
I am from Austin Texas and was familiar with George W. Bush Jr from his days as Governor.

He was an idiot and a crook and his chief man Karl Rove was the sleaziest liar in the state.

What he had was a good P.R. effort. Various so called news sources just made up stuff that implied he was good or worked across the aisle or something when it never was true. There were a few honest voices (like Molly Ivans) but the news reports just completely ignored all of it for a made up myth. It was exactly like the runup to the Iraq war.

All that stuff about him going AWOL from the national guard and selling favors to funeral directors and stuff was true and verified, but the national reporting all seemed to imply there was some doubt or that it was not as bad as it seemed. It was the most tight-knit propaganda job I had ever seen, until I saw it repeated when he was in the White House.
