We have new tech that is powerful and developing at warp speed, and which can be integrated and woven into each other. I have a kid in a prestigious engineering school and the last thing she and her buddies are concerned about is experiments that don't work out. Accidents happen all the time where she is. They are like a crazy shark wrestling surfer cult, only they are geeks. Super computers, nano technology, designer genes ... no time or ability to do what FDA has typically done to over see the development and distribution of new stuff. Their attitude is, just do it and see what happens. It's hard not to get excited about the potential but when I step back and think about the wild manner in which they go at it, I have to wonder about the risks.
