The day that a westerner can fly into Baghdad airport and take a normal taxi downtown to a hotel outside the Green Zone and survive 24 hours without being kidnapped or killed, I will believe that Iraq has truly changed. That isn't too much to ask in broad daylight. Right now, even after the surge, that would be considered absolutely suicidal, That's what five years of blood and treasure have won for us. That's a valid contrast for Obama to make and drive home to the voters, a majority of whom already agree with him on the topic.
