Ed, I agree with almost everything you said in your thoughtful post. I can only add that there is some function in his "integrity" to his base that swung the pendulum so far that the stage is set for it swing the other way. In other words, Obama's change message will sound hollow if it isn't for Bush's 7 years, incompetent it has been. BB PS As for the crazy neurosurgeon, I agree with the analogy that competence is paramount. But character imo is equally important, it's best to get a second opinion from a less talented surgeon one trusts to ensure the surgery is indeed necessary.
