well, that's certainly one way to look at it. I'd love it if we could open up our federal lands to drilling and increase our domestic production to 10 million barrels a day while simultaneously lowering our consumption to the same. That would solve our most pressing problems. Then we could figure out how to make importation of oil very unappealing from a tax perspective or something like that to ensure we stay independent. Not sure how we'd accomplish that part, since being oil's a global commodity, but I'm sure we could figure something out.
