I think that McCain and Bush are so far off track on this one that it is quite embarrassing and irresponsible to treat our troops that way.

I agree with you about the GI bill, and from what I can learn about it I think both McCain and President Bush are wrong to not support it.

Although it represents another increase in federal spending, the estimated $5 billion a year or so of cost for the next 10 years seems to be justified by the advantages. Not only will it attract additional recruits and help reduce recruitment expenses, I believe that the multiplier effect from the spending on veteran's benefits will help in economic growth.
