With natural gas prices still cheap relative to oil, but up ~60% from last Summer California politicians will be looking for another crime to obfuscate their poor leadership.

Electric prices are going to cause some severe pain in CA over the next few years even before CO2 trading raises prices dramatically.

They will be getting hit by both rapid rising fuel costs and a very tight generation market. Lack of generation will force prices higher.

Bob, the CA crisis had nothing to do with supply and demand. It was the way the markets were set up and some crooked traders and companies exploiting the holes in the trading system. Very poor planning and oversight on both the state and the federal levels.
