The government has been blocking production for 40+ years????lol

There is oil in places currently off limits, eg ANWR. But for the last 40 years all new finds have raised production...are you suggesting the oil companies are going along with a conspiracy?
A week or so ago, Bush mocked the suggestion that purchases for the Strategic Reserve be stopped to help increase the supply of oil...purchases of an average of 67,000 barrels a day.. He laughed and said that would have an impact of no more than 0.1% on the world market. A few minutes later he said that if he had gotten his way with ANWAR, we would have 27 million gallons of gasoline a day... That amounts to coincidentally 670,000 barrels a day or 1.0% of world market....for some reason in Bushes mind 1% would make a difference but 0.1% would not.
