Apparently it is rather dangerous for a good cop to rat out a bad one so the whole system becomes suspect...for good reason. Why isn't there another bunch of guys, in a completely independent agency, watching over cops?

Talking about rats trying to come clean...I wonder if Scottie is hiding behind the couch these days. I would imagine that the McClellan's social life has taken a turn for the worse these days.

Maybe Texas will go back to being Democratic even if they are of the blue dog type.

In a system where we glorify investigators and prosecutors who make bargains with brutal scum to get the goods on other scum you short circuit the ideal of justice. What do you expect to happen when you manipulate the rules of decent conduct and fair play?

Encouraging your enemies or criminals to sell out information in exchange for freedom is a form of blackmail. Exploiting fear, plea bargains, interrogation tactics designed to avoid or diminish the threat of harsh legal consequences may produce some short term results but they do not produce a confident citizenry … in fact, such stratagems are counter productive to that end.

What does such a society, want or hope for? ... nothing.
