I was in San Francisco over Halloween at a software conference, and my group went into the Castro to see what those famous SF gays were up to. It was AMAZING - but no place for kids, unless they were gay too. One person had made a costume that looked like a giant (erect) penis and (hairy) balls, and was going around shooting mayonnaise out of the tip with a super soaker or something!

Last time I heard from a friend who lived in SF, he and his girlfriend told me about some gay festival going on where gay people were doing some pretty x-rated things on the streets. Not a place I'd take my kids and I'm not so sure I condone that kind of immorality, but I also don't cast a stone when my own house is made of glass. This country isn't perfect and we have more pressing issues we should focus on than worrying about what gay people do.

Its true that some bizarro things occur in the gay district of SF but the rest of the city is very normal......much more sedate than NO or NYC.....more like Boston.
