AS does not deal in facts.

Fox News is a fascist corporate rightwing network and very dishonest, but since they have 25% of the country who like their misleading propaganda and smear attacks, they maintain just enough to stay "on top". But remember, they are splitting the audience with 5-6 other networks. And it's only Fox's dominance amongst o9ver 65 conservatives which keeps them in the game.

The bad news for Fox is that they've lost a huge chunk of their audience as Bush-Cheney's ratings have tumbled. I actually doubt they are #1 anymore, I thnk CNN is. And MSNBC beats Fox with the under 45 crowd.

Actually Fox News is #2 and has been for some time. They have also lost a huge amount of their market share from the post 9-11 rally around Bush/fear and war-mongering days.

The misleading figures hyped by rightwing Fox supporters are true only on terms of prolonged "cumes", not numbers of actual viewers. Fox News has fewer viewers than CNN and not many more than MCNBC. That is, the same loyal rightwing viewers watch Fox constantly for longer period of times, while CNN which has more viewers than Fox, has an audience which is more diverse and not as addicted to it. Also MSNBC only broadcasts for half the day so they cannot possibly catch Fox News, though they beat them when Olbermann is on in the under 65 audience.

Many older more "conservative" viewers apparently leave Fox News on for hours and hours, maybe all day. That explains why the cumulative number of hours tops CNN, though not by much. WHile CNN has more viewers and younger viewers. CNN also has more moderate swing-voter type viewers. MSNBC has successfully made itself a strong #2 or #3 by taking on the Bushie establishment. This makes them #1 now amongst younger viewers, though they may not be as successful as The Daily Show and Colbert Report.

Also, many older moderate and liberal type viewers don't watch cable TV at all, but one of the three network newscasts or PBS.

But for a rightwinger there is only one place to go on all of TV and that's the terrible skewed pro-Bush-Cheney Fox News.
