No doubt anyone using some symbol to stoke up emotions whether it be a cross, flag or the peace symbol would put me on guard. Perhaps you expressed Obama views that the flag has been used by too many chicken hawks and those who use patriotism to motivate others into actions you do not agree with. For me hanging the flag and showing proper respect during the national anthem I prefer to look past the negative manners people use patriotism. I dont see any reason to change tradition and honor those who served and sacrificed. There are too many reasons to use the flag as a symbol of the good of the nation. Obama could have easily said you know that, I wear the flag and I salute the flag but am leary of people using it for the wrong reasons. For me the flag should be a symbol of all the action we want to take, for example conservation, efforts to improve peoples health, etc.
