I don't believe any AQ member in that region has a "safe haven". Hiding place? Yes. But their existence is tenuous, at best.

You really don't think Iran's power has increased in the Middle East?

What kind of power? Military power? Political power? IAEA is now ratcheting up pressure on them. Al Sadr has been defeated. AQI has been defeated. So, their power to meddle in Iraq is on the wane.

Iran has power in that it has oil and the price of oil has increased so their power certainly has in that respect.

I will say this much. If you listened to liberal media, you would definitely think Iran's power had increased. But idiots don't know WTF they're talking about -- they're mostly liberals whose agenda is to bash America at every opportunity.
