I learned a long time ago not to argue with Buddy because he is always right. <g>

Re: "There is no lock on reserves."

What I meant or course was 'geologic reserves'. (Certainly did not mean to imply that there was any sort of 'padlock' involved. <GGG>)

Been there for millions of years (under what is now public lands...), and likely to remain there 'safer then in the bank' until we get around to accessing them.

Which --- as I pointed out --- I fully expect to see ever single commercially viable drop utilized at some point in time. Higher prices being the spur.

(I take it that you do not disagree with my assessment on this....)

Re: "The point that Tide made is that these fields could be reduced from the future drilling of China/Cuba."

Anything is possible in the future. But, of course, at this point there are no production Cuban wells 'slant drilling' into reserves under American economic zones. None.

And, American companies are still banned by Washington from this business they should be dominating....

However, as I also noted, Permex has recently started charging that (at least one) American company is now drilling into an oil reserve that extends into Mexican economic zones. :-)

Re: "Right now, the Bakkens are mostly providing us with investment profits based on future potential. That has been a very good run for those who follow the oil sector. Now, let's see some production...(s)"

Exactly. (Though the USGS upgrade of recoverable reserves is very exciting.... Apparently the government now thinks a lot more is there and recoverable then the north slope protected areas folks have been yelling about. And, will be adding to production a Hell of a lot sooner....)

Same hopes with Marcellus shales!
