The amazing thing is that he doesn't discuss any Republican group, even the "Progressives", who aren't supposed to be conservatives deep down.

The idea that the party could rally around anything except that orthodoxy doesn't exist in his model. That is telling.

Progressive Republicans can best come together with a coherent philosophy but it is the Goldwater Republicans that can energise the base with emotional sound bites.

Bush Republican is a one time hit. It is unlikely to survive.
