Who else goes to work in the inner cities but the radicals? Who else is going to care?

Obama did, right out of Harvard Law School. And he moved up to a point where he may be able to make a huge difference to those communities as POTUS.

I've seen plenty of eccentric local leaders and politicians around the world in my travels. Very few ever did much except get some ink from journos who like crazy quotes. They weren't the mayors or members of parliament (rarely but not often) or cabinet ministers or prime ministers. Even as local community organizers go, the most effective I knew were levelheaded and patient types. They had to be to keep up a struggle against usually overwhelming odds.

The others sit on the outside of the system looking in and perform for the street crowd.
